Chimney Corner U12s 4 Northend United U12s 1
Saturday 20th March 2010

Northend U12s recent run of wins came to an end against a determined Chimney Corner team. In the opening ten minutes United controlled the game, but the rest of the first half belonged to Chimney Corner.
Corner were able to get in behind Northend's defence to score two quick goals and it could have be worse except for Anthony O'Neill, in United's goal, pulling of a string of saves to keep the score 2-0 at half time.

Northend United came more into the game in the second half and threaten the Chimney Corner goal on several occasions without scoring in what was either a case of poor finishing or good defending.
Northend did pull one back when they won a corner and Leo Morgan headed home at the front post to make the score 2-1 and put Chimney Corner under pressure.
For the next fifteen minutes it was a case of backs to the wall for Chimney Corner as Northend went looking for an equalizer and this was to cost them dearly, as Chimney Corner caught Northend on the counter attack which led to them winning a free kick outside United's eighteen yard box. From this free kick they increased their lead to 3-1 before scoring a fourth goal right at the end of the match after the young Northend's heads had dropped, demoralised after a great fight back.

Larne Youth U12s 3 Northend United U12s 4
Saturday 13th March 2010
Northend for the second week in a row were involved in a cracker of a match, with both teams attacking each other straight from the kick off. Northend were attacking down their wings with Harry Kilgore and Jack Dawson crossing the ball at every chance for Leo Morgan and Eoin McCorkindale to put pressure on the Larne defence.
However Larne went in front when the Northend defence stood off them, allowing the Larne striker to lob Anthony O'Neill in goals.
Northend levelled the score to 1-1 when Ciaran Neeson flicked the ball over the Larne midfield to Joshua King who quickly fed Harry Kilgore who held his marker off to give the Larne keeper no chance. The score stayed this way at half time with both keepers making good saves.

Northend pushed from the start of the second half and went in front when Ciaran Neeson won the ball in midfield dribbled pass three players and smashed a unstoppable shot into the corner of the Larne net, scoring a contender for goal of the season.
Larne draw level again at 2-2 only for Leo Morgan to put Northend in front again when after the Larne keeper handled outside the box he scored with the resultant free kick into the corner of the net, to give Northend a 3-2 lead.
Aaron Reid then came on and with his first touch the Larne keeper was picking the ball out of the net as Leo Morgan took a quick corner to Kyle Johnston and he crossed into the Larne box where Reid volleyed high into the net to put Northend 4-2 up.
Larne made a few substitutes and one of them pulled one goal back to make it a tense final few minutes after United missed some good chances.
Another great performance from the Northend U12s and special mention goes to Ronan Ward who in his first full game for Northend at right back was man of the match.

Upper Ardoyne U12s 2 Northend United U12s 3
Saturday 6th March 2010

This game played at the Valley pitches was a credit to both teams as the football played was first class and at a frantic pace and continued throughout the entire game.
Northend started the better with Jack Dawson and Calum Johnston linking up well to put Leo Morgan in with a good chance, only for him to shoot tamely at the Ardoyne keeper. At the other end Michael Carberry and Eoin Campbell marshalled their defence well.
After sixteen minutes Northend went one up when a trio of players involving Joshua King, Calum Johnston, and Jack Dawson played neat one twos from midfield into Ardoyne's eighteen yard box and forced the Upper Ardoyne defender to score past his own keeper after Leo Morgan smartly dummied the ball.
The joy was short lived as Ardoyne went straight up field and scored, when a long ball from their midfielder caused a moment of hesitancy from Anthony O'Neill in Northend's goals, allowing the nippy Ardoyne striker to get in behind United's defence to score.
Northend went in front again when they won a corner. The resultant cross was cleared only as far as Leo Morgan, whose attempted shot fell to Harry Kilgore, and he scored the goal of the game when he caught the ball with a sweet left foot volley high into the Ardoyne net, to give Northend a 2-1 advantage.
Northend could have gone further ahead when Przemyslaw Nowak shot from distance but just missed the target. Ardoyne again drew level when United didn't clear the ball and their striker was allowed time to place the ball in of the United post to make the score 2-2 just before half time.

Both teams went looking for more goals in the second half, and United nearly got one when Przemyslaw Nowak again shot from distance, this time he hit the post. Ciaran Neeson and Joshua King were starting to dominate play in midfield, making attacking runs at the Ardoyne defence. From one of these attacks, Harry Morgan was feed the ball and he cut inside and passed to Eoin Mc McCorkindale who some how managed to place the ball into the far corner of the Ardoyne goals to put Northend 3-2 in the lead.
United should have added to their score but were happy to win with Anthony O'Neill in goals having to do very little in the second half.  A fantastic performance from all the Northend United Youth U12 Team

Chimney Corner U12s 6 Northend United U12s 2
Saturday 13th February 2010

This East Antrim Rosebowl match was played at the Rathcoole pitches on a bright Saturday morning. For Northend that was all that was bright as they never got into this game and found themselves three down after fifteen minutes, after some poor defensive errors.
However Northend came back into the game and pulled back two goals through Michael Carberry and Eoin McCorkindale to leave the half time score 3-2 to Chimney Corner.
Chimney Corner started off the second half in a similar manner to the first and scored straight from their centre, to make the score 4-2. This was the turning point in the game and halted Northend's fight back.

With Northend heads now down, Chimney Corner went on to score another two goals before the end of the game to leave the final score 6-2 to Chimney Corner.

Northend United U12s 0 Glendowan U12s 6
Saturday 6th February 2010

Northend United U12s where given a lesson in finishing by the West Belfast team from start to finish, in this BEAYIL League match. Glendowan are the surprise team of the league so far and have yet to drop a point in competitive action, beating teams like Linfield U12s along the way.

Glendowan went into a three goal lead within fifteen minutes, with their quick passing style of football which was just too much for the inexperienced Northend team.

United had a chance too pull a goal back when Ciaran Neeson made a great run into the penalty box but could only steer his shot into the side netting, with the goalkeeper well beaten. Glendowan's response was to score another two quick goals before half time to leave the score 5-0 in their favour.
It was the same story in the second half with Glendowan scoring again to put the game beyond Northend's reach.

This game resulted in a lesson learned by the young Northend team on how to pass and move quickly, on and off the ball.
